Abstract
Poor usability is a major concern with contemporary HIT products, especially EHRs. Usability impacts can include critical errors, productivity losses, and low adoption/usage rates. This presentation outlines where and why usability issues are prevalent in Health IT products. Rich examples are provided to illustrate the most vexing areas in EHRs. Potential solutions are offered including the implementation of a Usability Maturity Model in healthcare organizations.
